To help you navigate the often tricky path of starting out and growing as a leader, we've asked the wonderful coach, Nola Beirne, to give you her top tips.

  1. Acknowledge your fears and insecurities. We all have them to a greater or lesser degree, but don’t let them stop you from being brave and believing in yourself. Apply for that more senior role even if you are worried that you don’t have exactly the right profile, and make a decision with the best information available to you, even if it’s not perfect information.

  2. Develop resilience, it’s a muscle that gets stronger with exercise. Don’t let setbacks deflate your energy or self-belief. The more frequently you can deal with failure head on the stronger you become. This is not easy of course!

  3. Enlist others. Most successful leaders have had one or more people in their careers who have championed, mentored or coached them. Continue to enlist this support, whether you are a CEO or an entry-level employee.
